Upper East Side Eats

August

The Upper East Side has some of the best food offerings in all of New York City: from upscale to fast-casual. If you are looking for a weekend spot to brunch with friends or a more intimate venue to celebrate a special occasion, these are just some of the many places that will blow your taste buds away, all within walking distance of the luxury Upper East Side residences at The Kent.

The Penrose - 1590 2nd Avenue
Ask any resident of the Upper East Side, and it is a near guarantee that they name Penrose as one of the best casual restaurants in the neighborhood. At this popular hot spot, the food is delicious; the drinks are boozy; and the energy is electrifying. Enjoy your meal in one of the cozy booths that are part of the gastropub-meets-Victorian decor. Some favorites to try are the French toast sticks and the mac and cheese. As the day goes on, the crowd certainly rolls in, so be sure to get there early on the weekend to start a day of fun with family or friends.

Café Boulud - 20 East 76th Street
Café Boulud’s stellar service and carefully curated menu make it worth every penny you spend. From starting with the small plates to finishing off with a delicate dessert, the dining experience will satisfy your palate and exceed your every expectation. The brunch is always a popular option, and the “benedict” is a favorite among locals. A meal here promises to be an experience to remember, so you may want to save Café Boulud for a special occasion.

Flex Mussels - 174 East 82nd Street
Flex Mussels is an extremely popular spot that will always give you great food, friendly service, and generous portions. Beyond an extensive menu for mussels, the restaurant offers one of the best happy hours in town. With half-priced items that you can enjoy without breaking the bank, the happy hour gives you the chance to try a little bit of everything from the array of choices. Just remember that reservations are a must (especially on weekends) and make sure you side your seafood with the truffle fries; you won’t regret it.

Ristorante Morini - 1167 Madison Ave
Loosen up your belt and be prepared to eat some delicious Italian fare, while sipping on some of the best European wines that exist. Beyond the impressive dishes and extensive menu, this beautiful duplex restaurant is known for its amazing service, knowledgeable sommeliers and professional staff. This is an upscale space with a modern atmosphere that is perfect for an intimate dinner with friends, family or that someone special. When you go to Ristorante Morini, consider ordering the four-course, $75 prix fix. The portions are generous and you’ll leave wanting a well-deserved nap.
